We appreciate the success that we’ve achieved over the past 65 years and we also know how important it is to give back. Since 2008, we have offered support to local and national organizations that we feel make a difference in our community and around the world. Please visit their sites and learn more about the amazing work that they do.
We’ve supported Riverwood Therapeutic Riding Center since 2008. RTRC provides quality, professional equine assisted activities for both children and adults with special needs. Our employees volunteer weekly at RTRC and we have been providing print and monetary donations since 2008. In 2014 Sharpe Retail worked closely with Specialized Mobile Exhibits to produce Riverwood’s new Mobile Outreach Trailer. “Our hope is to make “horse calls” to individuals who are homebound and in need of emotional support. We also plan to visit schools, hospices, treatment centers and special populations.” says Susan Hubbard, Executive Director of Riverwood. MEO will also serve to help meet Riverwood’s educational goal: to share the benefits of Equine Assisted Activities. Promoting ability rather than disability is one of our primary objectives in education.
The LVH Foundation is a new organization that we started supporting in 2015. A close friend of Sharpe Retail’s owner started the foundation after his father passed of ALS in November 2014. Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), often referred to as “Lou Gehrig’s Disease,” named in honor of the famous baseball player who had it, is a progressive neurodegenerative disease. It affects nerve cells in the brain and the spinal cord through progressive degeneration of the body’s motor neurons, which reach from the brain to the spinal cord and then to all muscles throughout the body. With the degeneration of motor neurons, the ability of the brain to initiate and control muscle movement is lost. As voluntary muscle action is progressively affected, patients in the later stages of the disease may become totally paralyzed. The LVH Foundation has been a great organization to be associated with and Sharpe Retail plans on many more years of support.
is a charity that we have been supporting since 2013. The Crosby Scholars Program is a nonprofit college access organization through which students begin to prepare academically, financially, and personally for successful college admission beginning as early as middle school. We provided over $30,000 in print services and monetary donations since 2013.
We’re proud to support the Hospice Palliative Care Center in Winston-Salem NC in 2017. Carolyn Breese and her team have been great supporters of us for the past few years and we’re glad to be able to return the favor. Carolyn and her team do a wonderful job with their events and have looked to Sharpe for many printing needs over the past few years. “Thank you for all the great work your team did for our October 4th 2016 event. It was a smashing success with nearly 1100 people at the Benton Convention Center!” said Carolyn Breese, Director of Philanthropic Giving at Hospice Winston-Salem.
